Department for Education Briefing

20 April 2020 (by admin)

20th April 2020

Yesterday, Gavin Williamson, the Education Secretary, gave a briefing regarding updates on education. In this briefing, he referred to a range of resources and information regarding the education of our children and we will send links to these in sperate posts that will follow.

It is worth reiterating Chetwynde's philosophy on how we approach remote learning. It is 'family first'. We understand the difficulties that many households may be facing and that finding a balance for your family is the most important thing right now. We do not want to add to this stressful situation, and for this reason, we have backed off from enforcing deadlines or having unrealistic expectations that every child will complete every task that has been set for them. It is for you as a family to decide what is achievable. Our teachers are right here, via Teams or SMH, to offer help and support. Chetchat and Chetwynde Primary School (our Facebook pages) have become fantastic social spaces for our school community to gather and swap ideas and are a showcase of the fantastic activities that families are doing- if you haven't joined up yet I would urge you to come and have a look.

The resources that the Department for Education have suggested will complement what our teachers are setting via Teams. If you want further advice or help, please don't hesitate to be in touch for a chat. This is not a 'one-size' fits all situation, you need to do what is right for your family - but we are here to help! (j.robinson1@chetwynde.cumbria.sch.uk)
