MegaMAT Games

The MegaMAT Games are organised by Chetwynde School and supported by South Cumbria Multi-Academy Trust (SCMAT).  The games are organised by Chetwynde's PE teacher and Head of Phase 2, Mrs. Costa who said:

“Sport supports good mental health and wellbeing and encourages a healthy lifestyle. On the back of Covid, this provides additional opportunities for local primary children to restart activities in a competitive environment."

Executive Head Teacher and CEO of South Cumbria Multi-Academy Trust Professor Andrew Wren said:

“The SCMAT supports celebrating the success and achievement of pupils and the promotion of wellbeing and resilience. The MegaMAT games is a great initiative that combines all these values and supports pupils’ ambitions to be the best they can be.”

There are a number of sporting competitions organised throughout the year, which include: Cross-Country; Hockey; Netball; Swimming, and Tennis.  The events are all supported by senior sports leaders from Chetwynde.

The games are open to all schools, not just those in our Trust, as we are committed to helping all pupils build their confidence, leadership, and teamwork through sport. The events also support our TRANSITION provision as many primary school children will have several opportunities to visit Chetwynde getting to know the site and key teachers.
