Rainbow Day

8 June 2022 (by admin)

8th June 2022

Dear Parent/Carer,
On the 17th of June, we are delighted to be holding our annual Rainbow Day to celebrate inclusion, individuality and community. We value everyone for who they are regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexuality or religion. It is a strength of the school that we appreciate everyone's differences and encourages acceptance.

Last year, Rainbow Day was a great success, with lots of pupils across primary and secondary coming in with rainbow additions to their uniforms and celebrating together.

This year we are going bigger and better, and Chetwynde's LGBT club, 'The Colours of Chetwynde', has been planning some brilliant activities for Rainbow Day.

We ask all students to come to school with something rainbow alongside their uniform or come in full rainbow (This is not a non-uniform day).

For senior school pupils, there will be an assembly by the LGBT club on the history of the LGBT community, and at lunchtime, we will be having a "picnic party". There will be music, and any children who wish to join in will be able to eat their lunch up by the sports hall to join in the party. To make this easier, all children who want to participate in the lunch event should bring a packed lunch on the day or order a baguette from the lunch hall.

We ask that any student who wears rainbow brings a £1 donation to raise money for the school's LGBT club. The club will also be holding a bake sale at break time.

Kind Regards,
Miss Victoria Shuttleworth
