Spring Spruce for the Library!

2 March 2021 (by admin)

2nd March 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

As part of our celebrations for World Book Day, we thought this would be a perfect opportunity to relaunch the school library!

Amidst all of the commentary about lost learning, there is one aspect we will focus on addressing throughout the school - and that is reading. We know that reading at the correct chronological age is imperative for academic success. Ensuring all of our students are on track to achieve this or better is a key priority.

We also know the enormous benefits for mental health that reading can deliver, and again this will be another priority area for us to support. So - we would like to welcome our students back to a library that has been flooded with new, exciting reads and will entice them to pick up a book! We have carefully chosen a wish list of high-quality reads, many winners of prestigious literature prizes or know for their excellent narrative content. There really is something for everyone on the list. We feel this would be a practical and worthwhile way to honour World Book Day this year.

We are also delighted to receive any unwanted books as we move into the Spring cleaning season!

We have added a section to the school website with lots of links and ideas to support reading at home. It is worth a look, particularly if you have a reluctant reader at home! Chetwynde School - Reading at Chetwynde

Many thanks
