Year 6

Welcome to Year 6.

We work very hard in Year 6 but it is also an exciting year. At the beginning of the year the pupils are encouraged to apply for positions of responsibility, such as Head Boy and Head Girl as well as Prefects. The most exciting event in the Year 6 calendar is the visit to London. This trip takes place after the SATs tests and is a well-deserved reward for all the hard work that has been put in throughout the year.

As well as preparing for our SATs tests we cover lots of other interesting topics such as the Victorians and World War 2 in History. In Geography we learn about Fairtrade and develop our geographical skills. In RE one of the key faiths we learn about is Judaism.

As the top class in the Primary School we are able to represent the school at many different events, such as sporting and music events. In Year 6 pupils also write a Prize Essay which is a 3,000 word project on a chosen topic; this can be anything from a holiday to a hobby. Towards the end of Year 6 we also carry out transition activities to help us prepare for our move to the Senior School.
